Iron Man

Right, Iron Man is out on the 2nd of next month, which is happily the day I return from the US. I should arrive in Manchester about 10am, which will give me plenty of time to get home and drop all my gear off before heading into town for a screening.

Who's up for seeing this on the 2nd?

Karnak is cool, dammit! You should be happy to be Karnak! He is ace!

For Avengers you'd be

Uh

Avengers are hard.

Okay, you'd be Justice.

As long as mental things don't crop up, Dave and I will try to come.

But stuff really does keep happening at the moment. It's all good stuff, but it's seriously cutting down on me spare time!

Alright, the showtimes for Iron Man at AMC, this Friday, are

11:15am, Noon, 12:45pm, 2:15pm, 3:00pm, 3:45pm, 5:15pm, 6:00pm, 6:45pm, 8:15pm, 9:00pm, 9:45pm, 11:15pm, Midnight

I'm thinking the 8:15 or 9 one. That way we can meet up a little earlier and hang out a bit, maybe.

We went to see Persepolis last Friday at 6:15, and when I say we I mean me and Jim. So I think it'd be better to go later so people can get into town or have a drink after work. 8:15 sounds perfect, Iron Man is much more of a Friday night film.

I suggest meeting at Font. If you go round the back it's only a few minutes from AMC. Plus I want one of their fucking awesome burgers. US burgers just aren't as good, from what I've tried.

You know the railway bridge at Oxford Road Station? With the Thirsty Scholar under it?

If you stand in front of Scholar and look down the road on the left, there's that sign that's just a swirl, right? A bit further down. That's Font. I have extolled it's virtues before:

"Font is friggin' awesome. It's so nice downstairs, with all the curtains and sofas and stuff. The drinks are dirt cheap, and the food is fantastic. About what you'd pay at a greasy take-away, but it's NICE. Better than Trof, and almost half the price for the same meal. So you can either get more drinks in or pimp your burger to shit. Your £7 Trof burger pales in comparison to the monstrosity £7 will get you at Font. Like, half-pounder with real nice cheese, spicy wedges, bacon, shitloads of chilli and a side of onion rings. Plus change. And the meat is so good I thought it was cooked wrong. Luke had to explain to me that it wasn't wrong, it just wasn't the crappy ground beef I'm used to. And for you non-drinky people they do these darling £1.75 hot chocolates. Marshmallows and whipped cream, yo. And it ain't that far from Piccadilly at all. Ten minutes tops, if you meander? And it's next door to Oxford Road for trains, not too far from tram stops either. Five minutes walk ain't bollocks. I used to walk from Hope Hospital area into the city centre when I lived over that way. Christ, rambling, but I love Font. Yes. Oh god the Strawberries and Cream cocktail."

I'm really looking forward to this now. A fair few blogs on my reader are telling me this is the best Superhero film ever made, or since Superman 1, and every single person has said they are going to see it again as soon as possible. Can it be as flawless as the American geeks are saying? I guess we'll find out, tonight, at 8:15. Oh, and we HAVE to stay until the end of the credits. Apparently it's unbelievable. In a good way.

See you there!

I can't wait! Not a single negative review (on the blogs I read) thus far, even from people who don't Iron-Man as a character.

I wonder how it will do at the box office?

Hey baby!!!

*like/love? - skipped a word!

I think it'll do reasonably well, some people will go see any film that The Sun slaps a shiny red ''Hit'' tag on without bothering to find out what it's about (I worked at a cinema when Fahrenheit 9/11 came out, there were way too many people oblivious to the fact that it was a documentary who saw it becasue of those tags) and plenty of peeps like shiny stuff and 'splosions (like me!) and the geeks will go see it obviously (like you! :-P ).
